5 Days Tour Mombasa, Watamu, Kilifi and Malindi

Day 1: Arrival in Mombasa

Morning:

SGR/Flight from Nairobi to Mombasa and settle into your hotel.

Visit the iconic Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to learn about Mombasa’s rich history.

Stroll through the Old Town, exploring its narrow streets, Swahili architecture, and local craft shops.

Afternoon:

Enjoy lunch at a waterfront restaurant, such as Tamarind or Forodhani.

Visit the Haller Park, a rehabilitated ecosystem, home to giraffes, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.

Evening:

Relax at your hotel or enjoy a sunset dhow cruise along Tudor Creek.

Day 2: Mombasa to Watamu

Morning:

After breakfast, drive to Watamu (approx. 2.5-3 hours).

Check into your hotel or beach resort.

Afternoon:

Visit the Watamu Marine National Park for snorkeling or a glass-bottom boat ride. Spot vibrant coral reefs, tropical fish, and possibly dolphins.

Relax on Watamu Beach, known for its crystal-clear waters and powdery sand.

Evening:

Dinner at a local seafood restaurant, such as Crab Shack or Ocean Sports.

Day 3: Watamu and Malindi

Morning:

Head to Malindi (30 minutes from Watamu) to visit Gedi Ruins, an ancient Swahili town surrounded by a lush forest.

Explore the Vasco da Gama Pillar, one of the oldest European monuments in Africa.

Afternoon:

Visit the Marafa Hell’s Kitchen, a unique sandstone canyon with stunning red and orange hues (best visited in the late afternoon for sunset views).

Return to Watamu for the evening.

Evening:

Relax at your resort or enjoy a beach bonfire.

 

Day 4: Watamu to Kilifi

Morning

Depart for Kilifi (1 hour’s drive).

Visit the Kilifi Creek, a beautiful tidal inlet ideal for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or a leisurely boat ride.

Afternoon:

Explore the Mnarani Ruins, an ancient Swahili settlement overlooking Kilifi Creek.

Enjoy lunch at a scenic restaurant, like Nautilus, with views of the creek.

Evening:

Spend time at Bofa Beach, one of Kenya’s most pristine and uncrowded beaches.

Check into your accommodation in Kilifi for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Kilifi to Mombasa

Morning:

After breakfast, return to Mombasa (approx. 1.5-2 hours).

Visit Mombasa Marine National Park for more snorkeling or diving experiences, if time allows.

Afternoon:

Enjoy some last-minute shopping at the Bombolulu Workshop or Mombasa’s City Mall.

Have lunch at a local Swahili eatery, such as Barka or Jahazi Coffee House.

Evening:

Depart from Mombasa, concluding your coastal adventure.
